The World of Politik

Politik is a dynamic strategy game of military, political, and corporate control for 2–6 players. Representing any of 12 nations, players develop distinct identities during their struggle for global supremacy. They seize territories, orchestrate propaganda campaigns, and pilot companies to conquer markets. 500+ unique cards provide the landscapes, propaganda, companies, assets, and events for each nation to forge its path to power.

Following the Great Collapse, the world is fragmented but finding its way after decades of Imperial disinformation. Ascending from those ashes, pirate signals entangle the airwaves. Deserted broadcast stations spark back to life, trumpeting new anthems. With right and wrong blurred, a disoriented world yearns for truth. And one nation will decide it.

Three Paths to Victory

Politik is a game about control and majorities—culminating in Power Grabs. Nations compete over three types of Power Grabs: Military, Political, and Corporate. Ruling Regions yields Military Power Grabs. Securing Council Seats yields Political Power Grabs. Dominating Industries yields Corporate Power Grabs. Nations must earn a combination of Power Grabs to win.

Along the road to victory, each Power Grab offers distinct opportunities. Controlling states on the map increases resource production and card draw. Holding seats on the council adds game-changing benefits and abilities. Running powerful companies boosts income. To gain further advantage, corrupt Nations take on Obligations in exchange for rare and powerful effects. But be wary, Corruption carries a heavy price.

Political Bases

The nations of Politik establish their political identity through ideologies represented by propaganda. Each propaganda card belongs to one or more political bases: capitalism, communism, fascism, and statism. Propaganda cards bestow actions and interact with broadcast stations to further each nation’s agenda. Controlling multiple propaganda of the same base makes broadcasting more effective.

Propaganda cards generate a resource called support. Nations may use support to gain control of council seats or spend it on new propaganda to expand their political repertoire. Support also belongs to a political base and must be used by that base. By wielding support and propaganda effectively, your nation can seize victory!

Industries

Competition for market share in Politik is fierce and high-stakes. There are six industries in Politik: energy, finance, humanities, manufacturing, media, and technology. Each hosts a battle for superiority. Depending on the current economic landscape, new market share may be available in specified industries. However, in constrained bear landscapes, industry markets shrink.

Better your nation’s position in the corporate arena by controlling the most market in an industry. By doing so, you’ll gain income bonuses and be closer to claiming a corporate power grab.
